Austrian Juniper Support Spindle, 23g Hand-Turned Spindle for Fine Yarn

€69.00

A rare support spindle with a history rooted in the heart of Austria

Not just a spinning tool, but a piece of Austrian craftsmanship with a traceable origin.

This one-of-a-kind support spindle was hand-turned from beautifully aromatic juniper wood sourced from a private garden in downtown Linz, Upper Austria. From the original trunk to the finished spindle, every step was completed by me personally in my small workshop near Linz.

The warm reddish tones, elegant grain pattern, and distinctive natural aroma make Austrian juniper an exceptional wood for a handmade spinning tool.

No mass production. No anonymous timber. Just a unique piece of wood transformed into a spindle designed to accompany you on your spinning journey.

Designed for a smooth, comfortable, and supportive spinning experience

Weighing approximately 23 g (0.81 oz) and measuring approximately 25 cm (9.8 in), this spindle is ideal for supported spinning and for creating fine, consistent yarns.

The long, carefully balanced shaft provides excellent control when spinning, while the hand-turned body ensures smooth and stable rotation.

Dark decorative accent rings provide a subtle visual contrast to the warm juniper wood and create a distinctive design element of the Austrian Timber Bowl.

Every surface has been carefully sanded and finished by hand to preserve the natural feel and character of the wood.

The unmistakable scent of juniper

One of the most remarkable characteristics of this spindle is its natural aroma.

Juniper wood has a pleasant woody and resinous scent that often becomes more noticeable while spinning, as the wood is gently warmed by the hand.

No artificial fragrances or treatments have been added. The scent is simply part of the natural character of the original tree.

From the trunk to your hands

The juniper trunk came from a privately owned garden in the center of Linz, Austria. I personally processed the wood, selected the section, and turned the spindle in my small workshop in Upper Austria.

The listing photos document this journey:

• Locally sourced juniper wood

• Preparation of the spindle blanks

• The spindle during hand turning

In a world where many handmade tools start out as anonymous commercial blanks, this spindle offers something that is becoming increasingly rare:
