Moon-Felled Austrian Apple Wood Support Spindle, 11g Ultra-Lightweight Spindle for Lace and Fine Yarn
A remarkably lightweight support spindle with a history that began in Austria's Waldviertel region
This one-of-a-kind support spindle was handcrafted from beautifully figured apple wood sourced from a tree that fell during a full moon in the Waldviertel region of Austria.
I personally gathered the wood and carefully crafted it into this unique spinning tool in my small workshop near Linz, Upper Austria. From the original tree to the finished spindle, every step was done by hand.
Weighing just 11 g (0.39 oz), this spindle is one of the lightest designs in the Austrian Timber Bowl collection and is particularly well-suited for spinning extremely fine yarns and delicate fibers.
The exceptional grain patterns running through the apple wood create a striking appearance that makes each spindle completely unique.
No mass production.
No anonymous timber.
Just a rare piece of Austrian wood transformed into a spindle designed to accompany you on your spinning journey.
Designed for ultra-fine spinning
Weighing approximately 11 g (0.39 oz) and measuring approximately 25 cm (9.84 in), this spindle is ideal for supported spinning of very fine yarns.
Its long, slender shaft provides excellent control during drafting, while the lightweight body allows for smooth rotation with minimal effort.
The signature three dark accent rings reflect the distinctive Austrian Timber Bowl design and provide an elegant contrast to the warm, natural tones of the apple wood.
Every surface has been carefully sanded and finished by hand to preserve the natural beauty and character of the wood.
