With this Russian support spindle made of fine pear wood, you’re bringing home a spinning tool that not only looks beautiful but also spins with dreamlike ease. The finely balanced shape and stainless steel tip ensure a butter-smooth spin—perfect for long, controlled draws and even threads.
Each spindle is handcrafted by me on a lathe in Upper Austria. The pear wood is dense, pleasantly warm to the touch, and features an elegant, calm grain. Thanks to its light weight of only approx. 26 g, the spindle is ideal for fine to medium-fine yarns.
As an option, you can choose a matching spindle bowl made from the same pear wood (Ø approx. 60 mm, height approx. 30 mm). The bowl and spindle are perfectly matched—so the spindle stays securely in the bowl and can rotate smoothly for a long time.

USE


• The spindle is used as a support spindle: The stainless steel tip runs in the spindle cup or on a smooth, hard surface.
• Ideal for spinning fine to medium-weight yarns made from wool, alpaca, silk, blended yarns, and hand-carded fibers.
• Particularly comfortable for anyone who likes to spin while sitting or on the sofa—also perfect for knitters who want to make their own yarn for special projects.
• Thanks to its light weight, the spindle is ideal for long spinning sessions and producing thin, even threads.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Store the spindle and bowl in a dry place; protect from extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
• Dust with a soft, dry cloth as needed.
• Do not soak in water; do not place in the dishwasher, oven, or microwave.
• If the wood comes into contact with very dry air, it can occasionally be treated with a drop of high-quality vegetable oil (e.g., linseed oil, walnut oil) applied very thinly—wipe off any excess oil completely.
• Clean the stainless steel tip with a soft cloth as needed; do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.
